Our flood insurance is worthless because of FEMA? -Insurance Quote

Hi, my family and I were one of the many who lost their homes in the Nashville flood over this last weekend. Luckily, we were in a flood zone and so have flood insurance. However, apparently now that FEMA is coming in, our Flood Insurance is worthless? They won?t cover anything anymore. I don?t understand this. So because we were prepared and we pay an insurance company to save us in something like this, now we won?t be getting anything? It?s basically like we just don?t even have it. They?re saying that because FEMA has come in, they won?t reimburse us for ANYTHING we?ve lost? So now? FEMA will rebuild our house, which our insurance company would have done anyways? but that?s it. Everything on the inside? everything that could?ve been replaced by our insurance company? now won?t be. Because of FEMA? How does this make sense? I mean, we PAY this company every month for when something like this happens, and now it has and they won?t do anything? There has to be something wrong with this. Please help or give advice? Thank you so much.
Yes, Obama declared Nashville a national federal disaster, which is why FEMA is here.

Hmmm, that doesn?t sound right. Continue the claim process with your insurance company and make them send you a denial letter that specifically states what clause they?re using to exclude coverage. If you?ve just been talking to your insurance agent instead of the insurance company, call the company directly. Agents never know what they?re talking about. You should also get your policy out and read the exclusion section, if there?s nothing that talks about FEMA or federal or state disaster area, I think you?ve got coverage. If the FLOOD coverage has an exclusion for disaster areas then what the he*l kind of policy is that?! EVERY big flood is declared a disaster area. The policy may turn into ?excess? coverage after FEMA kicks in. That means that they?ll be secondary to FEMA payments. Lets say FEMA covers the house but none of the contents, that?s when your insurance would pay for stuff if they turned into excess.
