Rome Mayor delivers his first State of the City Address

Some community members and leaders gathered at the historic train station tonight in Rome for Mayor Joseph Fusco's 2012 and first State of the City Address.

Mayor Fusco talked about many initiatives and projects he says he's looking forward to make happen during his term.

He stressed the importance of fiscal responsibility to help keep the City of Rome financially fit. Mayor Fusco says it all comes down to making smart decisions like buying new or used equipment.

He also says it's important to focus on efficiency and collaboration among various departments to get work done.

And as many people packed the train station to listen to what Mayor Fusco had to say, the Mayor is asking the community to step up and be involved.

"If we are looking for volunteers we are showing that people have done it by example and myself I have been involved in many projects and continue to be involved in Relay for Life and Canal Fest. If I expect people to step up to the plate I will have to do so and continue to do so. I have to set a good example," said Mayor Fusco.

Mayor Fusco closed his address by saying "many hands make light work."

He says he wants feedback from the community and is willing to make changes at grassroots levels.

The Mayor also touched upon public safety and economic growth saying, obviously, bringing jobs and other opportunities are key to that growth.
